Scope and who we are

This policy explains how the HeatMap team handles personal information through the HeatMap iPhone app, public website, and support experience. HeatMap is launching first in Bucharest and is intended for adults aged 18 and older.

Questions about this policy or your information can be sent through HeatMap Support using the “Data or privacy request” topic.

Information we may process

Depending on the features you use, HeatMap may process:

  • Account and contact information, including email address and username.
  • Profile details, visibility choices, friends, blocks, and reports.
  • Event interactions such as Going, Maybe, and Inside.
  • Favorite venues and notification-related choices.
  • Messages and chat content you choose to send.
  • Device and approximate or precise location information when permission is granted.
  • Technical information such as app version, iOS version, device model, diagnostics, and request logs.
  • Information included in support, safety, correction, or deletion requests.

HeatMap does not publicly display account email addresses.

How information is used

Information may be used to create and operate accounts, show venues and events, enable social and messaging features, provide nearby discovery, validate an Inside check-in, deliver requested notifications, protect users, investigate reports, troubleshoot problems, answer support requests, and improve reliability.

HeatMap does not use an Inside signal as a guarantee of exact real-time venue occupancy.

Location and visibility

Device location can support nearby venue discovery and determine whether Inside is available near a venue during valid hours. Location sharing with friends is a separate visibility choice and can be disabled. Some location-dependent functionality may not work when device permission or sharing is disabled.

Shared location visibility is limited to friends. HeatMap is not designed to expose a user’s exact location publicly to strangers.

When information may be shared

Supported profile and event activity may be visible to other users according to the profile and feature context. Interactions from private profiles are visible only to friends.

Information may also be processed by service providers needed to host, secure, deliver, and support HeatMap. It may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or complete a business reorganization. HeatMap does not claim that listed venues operate HeatMap club chats or manage every event listing.

Retention and security

HeatMap keeps information only for as long as needed for the feature, account, safety, support, legal, or operational purpose for which it was processed. Event interactions disappear from active discovery after an event ends, but limited records may be retained where needed for security, abuse prevention, dispute handling, or legal obligations.

No system can guarantee absolute security. Use a unique credential, protect your device, and never send passwords through support.

Your choices and requests

You can choose a public or private profile, disable location visibility, manage HeatMap’s iOS permissions, remove favorite venues, and use block and report controls. Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or further information about your data.

Use the support form for a data request. For deletion, read the account deletion instructions. HeatMap may need enough information to verify that a request concerns your account.

Age requirement

HeatMap is for people aged 18 and older. HeatMap does not currently verify every user’s age or identity. If you believe a person under 18 is using HeatMap, report the concern through support.

Changes and contact

This policy may be updated as HeatMap’s features, providers, or legal obligations change. The date at the top will be revised when the policy changes materially.

For privacy questions, choose “Data or privacy request” on the support form.
